Doing my part in changing the way we build and what we build with.

Hoping to someday be a part of a whole paradym shift toward a more sustainable way of building. Leaving the traditional ideas behind. Having the "old ways" someday soon be sub-standard and the innovative, more efficient, sustainable way - the norm.

Making my 9 year old son proud of what his Dad tried to do before he leaves this planet.

Helping make a change.

Hi david,

I was in a school last night, with around 700 kids and teachers around. I had a word with them, and was happy to find that the children were more concerned about Mother Earth. I think it is a positive sign.

I am always ready to help you in your endeavour. Do ask me whenever you feel like.

Hello, we'd like to make our school greener, and the children more environmentally aware. At the moment we recycle paper and compost fruit leftovers. We are working towards reducing our energy consumption. We also plan to create a selection of "mini habitats" in our small grounds to encourage wildlife. I run a very enthusiastic nature club. Chris

Do you know that it is real estate agents who are largely responsible for promoting the idea that clotheslines in your neighborhood will lead to a decrease in property values? It becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. You should take this on and fight it to the ends of the Earth.

We'd like to see our school become more green. We won a NYC Golden Apple Recycling Award 3X but still have trouble instituting an ongoing program. One problem is that our seniors keep graduating just about when they get a handle on the issues. We have also been frustrated in trying to build a greenroof on our school. altho we have the support of our principal and alumni, we can't seem to get support from the upper echelons of the NYC Dep't of Education.

Yes, we are on a mission. Kind of a struggle, considering the overall mentality of the national real estate market. The media doesn't help much. Some areas are getting hit harder than others. This "soft" market slows the growth of green building, because it scares away some builders that are new or seriously started to consider going green. Typically, the green home costs more, but I think there are efficient alternatives that give the best bang for the buck. Additionally, if appraisers don't step up to the plate and give true increased value for the appropriate energy efficient upgrades, then that in itself, will contribute to impede the progression of moving to a more sustainable, energy efficient home building environment. Thanks for your support.
