If someone thinks that climate change is a problem as complex and so large that only governments can help resolve, you better think again. The AlmapBBDO and Greenpeace (with the advice of Centros de Estudos Avançados do Recife, C.E.S.A.R., - one of the main centers of information technology in Brazil - have developed a project that allows any person without much effort and without radically changing its way of life, contribute to reducing emissions of greenhouse effect gases in the atmosphere. It's called Black Pixel and runs from the screen of your computer.

The project is based on a program that can be captured through the Internet and install a black square on the screen. You can switch it off at any time. But while working, the square reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The challenge is to reach 1 million installed Black Pixels, which are equivalent to a saving of 57 thousand watts / hour or 1425 to keep out the 40W bulbs for an hour. A plant with coal, to produce the same amount of energy, giving 70 kg of CO2.

So, while our politicians avoid addressing the climate crisis, with a Black Pixel, you can begin to act for at least reduce the size of the problem. Install the program and tell their friends, colleagues and relatives. As more people use the square, the better for the planet. The project only works in tube monitors and plasma. To install the Black Pixel no complication visit the site of the Black Pixel: http://www.greenpeaceblackpixel.org/#/pt
