I also like the poem called "A Mother's Son". I like how he uses the metaphor of a son to mother earth. The main theme of his poem was that we should all care about the earth and help her before she commits suicide. I think he is leaving it open end…

Both poems themes tie into each other. Mother earth is grand and important. If she dies we will grieve but need to move on from what damage we are doing and making a positive effort to change for the better

Mother Earth is Crying
As mother earth stands alone she shouts for us to listen to her. Her tears flow through the world, acting as our oceans, rivers and lakes. Those great works that were once blue and clear are now brown with sorrow. She is crying loudly and yearning for us to hear her. Our once green earth is now becoming similar to a little child. We must all help out to make the world a better place for all. Do you hear Mother Earth crying?

Mother earth is crying. We are destroying her everyday. We are ingonring her cries and pleas to all for our own selfish ways.

Do you hear Mother Earth Crying? Do you see what we have done? We have used her and abused her, ingnoring her love for all. We have left mother earth crying, fighting to survive. We have left Mother Earth drowning in sorrow while we ignore her fears.

DO YOU HEAR MOTHER EARTH CRYING?

I hear her and I want her to know that:

Leilani's Fascination

Leilani walks and touches the grass below her.
She is infatuated with the world.
Her newness to the world brings light into others
As she explores what's below and above her, she realizes that Mother Earth is here to stay and is trying to figure out why.
Her eyes watch as insects crawl and birds fly. She sees the rain fall and the snow accumulate.
Her fascination is why Mother Earth should be preserved
My Home Country:
United States
Organizing an Earth Day Event This Year?
No - But I'd like to participate
My Environmental Interest(s) (Climate Change, Solid Waste, etc.):
I want to learn more about global warming and energy conservation.
