About Me:

Co-Founder of Celebration Earth, a six month Declaration of Peace that began in Okinawa and has expanded to being a global event recognised by the (CPI) as a leading event for 2009.
Ambassador to the The Earth Champions. President of the Wonderful World Tree Planting Festival Charity Ambassador to The Living Rainforest

Brief History: Since 1990 I have walked over 47,000 kms through 39 nations spreading the environmental message and planting trees of peace.

A few major recent events
2005 I met and married Konomi Kikuchi, the co-author of my book, `The Man Who Plants Trees, Paul Coleman, A 44000km Walk` which was recently published in Japan. 2008 a Korean version of my autobiography, translated by Mr. Ma, the Director of Wetland Preservation for the Korean Federation of Environmental Movements (KFEM) was released by Gmulko Publishing.

2006 Walked with Konomi through China, Korea and Japan on 'The Earthday Friendship Walk'.
The 'Earthday Friendship Walk' began on January 15th from the Great Wall of China and was noted by the International Earthday Netwrok as the event that began the Earthday Celebrations of 2006. The walk was recieved in Beijing when members of the Olympics Communtiy and Committee received us with a huge press conference and invited us to assist them in the efforts to make the 2008 Beijing Olympics 'Green'.

Whats Next? 2009
CELEBRATION EARTH - SIX MONTH CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Currently I am on the Island of Okinawa, planning for a huge celebration of next years International Day of Peace. Okinawa, the former Kingdom of Ryukyu had a long history of peace, until it was invaded and incoorporated into Japan, which led to massive trauma and tragedy when the Japanese authorities decided to sacrifce the islands in an all out effot to stop the progression of the Allied troops in the final days of WW2. Consequently 230,000 people died, a great proportion of them non combative Okinawa citizens. On April 1st 2009 (the 400th year of the Japanese invasion) an Earth Celebration Tree Planting Ceremony will usher in a Peace Symposium. These events will be the begiining of six months of peace and earth related activities which will stretch through the islands and Japan and culminate on September 21st, The International Day of Peace.

THE WONDERFUL WORLD TREE PLANTING FESTIVAL
In April 2008 I was invited to help lead a group of 100 Japanese volunteers visiting Inner Mongolia to plant 130,000 trees in the deserts. The event, which utilised local people was a great success, so with the Japanese organisers we decided to create a new entity, The Wonderful World Tree Planting Festival, to expand our activities. I serve in the capacity of President. Our mission is to reforest lands that have been deforested or are suffering from the results of Global Warming. Next year we will bring volunteers to plant trees in Inner Mongolia and South Africa. These trees will be planted with the local people and activities will be funded by the volunteers and our One Yen Campaign.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to the support of countless individuals around the planet I have been honoured by many nations and have received several international awards. In 2005 I was one of 100 Earth Lovers representing the Earth at EXPO 2005.
I`ve given well over 3000 speaking engagements and narrated, for Sony Corporation, the movie 'Our Planet' which was produced for the premeiere of the world's largest movie screen at EXPO 2005.

Since 1994 I have been serving as Advisor and Ambassador to Pathways To Peace International Secretariat to the 'Culture of Peace' United Nations Peace Messenger Initiative. A major focus of the Initiative is the International Day of Peace (September 21st)

TREASURE BOX EARTH

The Earth is our treasure box and we don´t even have to open it to experience the gifts it contains. Today´s been rather stormy in Patagonia, so we´ve not been home building, instead I decided to finish off a movie I mader earlier this year featuring some of Patagonia´s free earth gifts. More movies like this will follow - the other day we went for a walk into the forested hills close to La junta withn our friend Hayato and In just a kilometer I discovered four types of natura… Continue

Hi. Paul

I am really glad to meet you here. Thank you for your comment on my wall. I am here to be a voice and to exchange knowledge about how to save our Global. You know Global Warming is a dramatically urgent and serious problem. We don't need to wait for governments to find a solution for this problem: each individual can bring an important help adopting a more responsible lifestyle: starting from little, everyday things. It's the only reasonable way to save our planet, before it is too late.
Please try to adopt some ideas, some views from many sources around the world to create Green World. We need hands in hands to hold our further for next generation and you are a part of it.

Thanks
Jay

mai vake bula friend,
you mentioned the use of volcanic matrials for insulation. did you know that 'rockwool' is produced from slag material and is much superior to fiberglass. for example, in fire tests, when 'glass' melted and contributed to the flame, the reckwool was found in changed, as installed. I used to sell this stuff and used a 2" pad of 'wool'. draped over my hand then played a Tiger Tourch over my hand for the whole time i spoke. impressed the hell out of evryone!

yo mate,
i started a group under the title of "on the front lines" to discuss technology, good and bad.
Do you think i have chosen a proper arena for this forum?
if this will go, i will put the plan for the TV antenna conversion in this group area.
As i mentioned, you are receiving about .3kw per sqM Max. in that latitude and would have to add some to the standard antenna to achieve 3kw, and that only during "high sun hours" 8 hrs per day/ summer/ less in winter. this can be achieved by extending the parabole

Miau sa bula Paul,
Ha Ha! Patagonia fairly well implies "off the grid". As your solar index there is probably somewhere around 0.3 kw per sq,M at best and, depending on what micro-climate you are intending to inhabit, you will probably have to mix wind technology (good to excellent in certain areas), direct solar steam conversion (solar PV technology is not as "clean" as the Industry claims) and considerable storage capacity. you might also look into the old ways of keeping warm, rammed earth, partial subterainian structures. some interesting things are being tried in the colder latitudes.
can offer Mid-Tech* Plans for conversion of old Satellite Antena into Solar Steam Generator. Plans for Mid-Tech Desalination plant, build in your back yard for a few hundred dollars, operated by Solar Evaporation and if no electricity is available, water can be pumped by hand.
i actually have quite a few more bunnies in my hat.
I've authored (unpublished) the Mid-Tech* Engineering Philosophy and Global Grand Scale Systems Integration Design, co-existing road maps to good science and sound decision making paradigm. Oh so lacking in this age of miracle and wonder.
To Marlene, selling "Green" is nothing more than the latest "Snake oil Scam" re: Previously mentioned "PV Tech's "Spoof Green" on "Green Hungry World"
Does anyone know what heavy metals and toxic acid/base chemicals are sandwiched between those pretty glass plates Most of these products are not recycable and no Plan for the Disposal of these technological wonders exists. (PVs are batteries, we still don't have satisfactory disposal capacity for car batteries). Their efficiency is poor compared to simple, direct solar and decreases daily. Junk in 10- 20 yrs, see what i mean? Bad Science except in isolated, minimal applications
May Peace Prevail.
Service.
