Apparently, some people are using satellite images for more than finding their house on Google Earth.
Professor Nalini Nadkarni of The Evergreen State College took NASA's Earth imagery, parsed out the signature of trees (using the light reflected off them vs. other objects), applied some simple math, and what did she find: the
Earth's tree-to-person ratio.
