Profile Information

About Me:
Professionally, I'm a freelance writer, book reviewer, and editor. My personal writing focuses on ending domestic violence, strengthening families, and nurturing children. I'm married with a tween son.

As all parents do, I worry about my son's health and happiness. Lately, I've been worried about his future. Why? Because I don't know what our environment will be like for him and his children. Take a look around you. What is Earth saying to you? It can't sustain itself and us, when we continue to abuse it.

My son took a recent field trip to our local, solid waste facility, always an educational trip for kids. He cited the numbers, like the tons of waste already at the site, and what will happen when it reaches its maximum (because we realize everything has a maximum, right?) We can't continue to toss things and think the garbage just disappears. It doesn't.

I'm lucky to have joined a group - Social Traffic, Inc. - that is working toward having the most spectacular celebration for Earth's Birthday, 2009. Individual effort for the world's success. What are you doing for Earth's Birthday? If you'd like to know what we're doing, send me a note. If you're doing something great for our Earth, please let me know.

Thanks for a wonderful site of conscientious members.

Best,
Jennifer Akers
