There Ain't no Lower Class than Tennessee Trash...Don't Litter!

Profile Information

About Me:
I live in Pickwick. Pickwick is a small resort town in West Tennessee. I've always been fond of nature and "things of the Earth". It could be due to my being a Taurus, I'm not sure. In particular, I've always despised littering and the process of clear-cutting that is prevalent in my state. I raised my children to be non-litterers and preached against littering at every opportunity. I have been constantly concerned with the loss of great swaths of trees in the area where I live.

Since the emphasis of global warming has begun to be so mainstream, I have been encouraged to do even more to "do what I can" to help educate people and to lessen my own carbon footprint. I am hoping to start an Earth Day in Pickwick by April of 2009.

I am currently seeking volunteers for this project and I hope to gain sponsors from within the community. I've done some research on various eco participants and am much encouraged about the amount and level of resources available.

Maybe I can make some contacts through this web page. I welcome anyone that happens by to contact me if you are interested in helping start an Earth Day in Pickwick. Wish me luck!
My Home Country:
USA
My Environmental Interest(s) (Climate Change, Solid Waste, etc.):
Litter, Recycling, Depletion of Trees/Forests, Water Pollution, Solar Energy, Conservation of Natural Resources

Must see TV on Nat Geo

Check out the program called 6 degrees warmer. It is an awesome look at what is probably going to happen if we don't WAKE UP! I doubt that even the naysayers will be able to contradict the facts of global warming after seeing this show. Watch it if you can and arm yourself with a scientific arsenal of facts.

Peace and love,
Diana

A thought for the network community

"Many people need desperately to receive this message:
I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone." - Kurt Vonnegut, author

Thanks Diana for your support - this is our second year for the event and we have doubled exhibitors and participants from last year. The festival is a fabulous way for us to bridge the gap between our farmers and the local community!

Hello Eugen!

We are lining in an open world all people have the same right which this community supports with heart and faith. Of course we can have subjects, threads and forums about homelessness,

This community is about life in all its forms pleasures and difficulties. To have a happy life is to support politics and activism that supports equal human rights, equal sharing of the earthy sources, and right use of those sources and of course protection of everything that can make your life better like having a echo system in balance.

Those who rule this world don't care all we others must. Our future depends on us and not the rulers,

Your Question
Hello! I'd be interested in learning how you are organizing your Earth Day Event.

I have organized many events in my life. Since 1971 I am active in organizations for Global Peace and Bio-Ecological activist organization. I was working for more than 20 years as a consultant for Ministry of Education in Greece (Labour Education).
A part of my work was to organize and engage people in peaceful events and learning programs.

As you can see I have chosen the womb of Mother Earth as my profile picture.
Once or twice per year we used to organize big events on Global Peace and Protect the wetlands. Not far away from my place is Kerkini Lake, Greece (search Google).

Generally Greeks are good on organizing events and celebrations.

Tradition from ancient time. Keep your body healthy (Olympic Games) that gives you a clear mind (Philosophy) and secures a pure soul (Elusinian Mysteries [Now Greek Orthodox Church[)
.
I am not the most active in those events anymore I am a follower, But I will set my corner stone somewhere.

There are committees for that. I will participate and bring my friends there. This year we have a problem. The Long (Good) Week starts April 21th and Easter falls on Sunday 27th April and that is not good.

I presume the committee will decide to arrange the EARTH DAY at Sunday April 20th, 2008.

Here is a nice picture and a video clip from Kerkini Lake
(National Protected Wetland)

If you get a chance shoot me an email with your contact information so I can keep you in the data base for future changes to Tennessee's net metering laws.

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Diana,

We are working hard to have every state adopt net metering. We have just successfully assisted in the process of getting Missouri to adopt net metering at the beginning of this year! Congress has a bill before it that may make it a national law... we are doing all that we can to support it. You can write to your government officials and let them know your support of net metering. It will make a difference. As the country moves this direction it will support all types of renewable energy. It will also support individuals wanting to do the right thing and go to green clean energy!

In the mean time you can join my team of passionate folks to help upgrade homeowners across the country to clean solar energy. There is no risk, hype or financial investment required and there is a long term residual income that is quite nice... very exciting.

Please give me a call at 508.228.2000 and I will be happy to go over the details. We have a number of folks in non-net metered areas participating and anxiously waiting for their utility to make the move.

Peace,
Bruce
